Domus Laeta is an ancient dwelling that conveys the enchantment of the past. It is in the Cilento National Park, a UNESCO property, in a small town, Giungano, in the province of Salerno, founded by the inhabitants of Paestum who, afraid of the Saracens, preferred the salubrious climate of the hillside. It faces south and has a fascinating panorama all the way to the sea. It still preserves its articulate 17th-century structure.
The residence, suitably renovated, offers bed and breakfast accommodation. At guests’ disposal reception rooms, library, music room. Large outdoor spaces, loggia with frescoes, belvedere terrace, garden with fruit trees. The hosts guarantee a friendly and refined stay. Special care is given to breakfast, and gala dinners are arranged upon request. Reception and information about the area are guaranteed.
The rooms, furnished with period furniture, are double and quadruple, all with private bath, TV and air conditioning. They have views of the valley or the historic center, and some overlook the romantic inner courtyard.
Watchtowers and loopholes along the walls, halls, historic library, and on the floors below stables and mangers, stone mill for oil, cellars and bread ovens. In the airy and scenic garden, the old water collection tank next to the spring well has been converted into a swimming pool with whirlpool. It has always belonged to an aristocratic family, whose memories have remained in the furniture, objects, important archive and rare and ancient texts in the valuable library of about 2,000 volumes.
