Montagnana, a village certified by the Italian Touring Club with the Orange Flag, is counted among the most famous medieval walled towns in Europe. The walls draw an irregular rectangle and rise above the green grass of the moat. In the interior, one can recognise an intact, ancient urban design, arcaded streets, a large square and the atmosphere of a Veneto town on the plain, linked to agriculture: in the Venetian period (after 1405), hemp was cultivated in the countryside for naval use and stored in the Ezzelinian Castle of S. Zeno. Among the various events held in the municipality, not to be missed is the festival dedicated to the typical Veneto PDO ham, held every year in the second half of May.
