This imposing villa is the creation of painter and architect Dario Varotari, a pupil of Veronese. The interiors are richly frescoed with mythological motifs and scenes from family history.
Today the villa houses the Conte Emo Capodilista winery, which produces high quality wines appreciated worldwide and awarded by the most important wine guides. On the borders of the Euganean Hills Regional Park and just a few kilometres from Padua, La Montecchia welcomes those who wish to organise wine tastings, stays in the medieval village, in the castle or, exceptionally, in the 16th-century Villa Emo Capodilista overlooking the vineyards. Montecchia is a strategic location for visiting nearby cities of art such as Venice, Verona, Vicenza and Ferrara. Guests can also relax by the pool, stroll among the vineyards and take advantage of special agreements with the adjacent La Montecchia Golf Club, where there is also the Michelin-starred restaurant of the same name, run by the Alajmo family.
The Count loves his land and is proud to be able to renew traditional hospitality in the places where his family has lived and worked for centuries.
