A charming village with an intact mediaeval appearance, it is a wine town, eponymous with the renowned DOC production and the seat of the protection consortium. The town is also famous for the road network of its historic core. On the axis formed by via Roma and via Camuzzoni face most of the monuments: the parish church of S. Lorenzo (1303), the Cavalli Palace (1411), in Venetian-Gothic style, and the Palace of Justice (1375). Along Via Camuzzoni are aristocratic buildings, including the Palazzo Scaligero now housing the Town Hall. Dominating it all is the castle (10th century), rebuilt by the Scaligeri and Venetians: three walled courtyards surround the keep, flanked by the lords’ residence.
