ALMENNO SAN BARTOLOMEO – TCI

The locality, at the mouth of the Imagna Valley, not far from Bergamo and an hour from Milan, lies mainly on the plains, among meadows and woods, included within the Romanesque Park, formerly called “Lemine.” This strip of land offers an itinerary with evocative views among architectural jewels of Romanesque art, to be traveled on foot or by bicycle, with excursions also guided. Don’t miss the Rotonda di San Tomè, a jewel of Lombard Romanesque art still surrounded by a rural setting that enhances the preciousness of its forms. The Tino Sana Carpenter’s Museum dedicated to the civilization of wood and the working of this material, with collections also devoted to rural life, the art of puppeteering and the history of bicycles. The 18th-century parish church, with works by Giovanni Battista Moroni and Bartolomeo Vivarini. The Parietti Furnace Museum, evidence of ancient local manufacturing; it was a 19th-century factory. The Valley’s food and wine products, especially cheeses, cured meats and berries, accompanied by excellent wines made from native grape varieties.
