Corinaldo is a village certified by the Italian Touring Club with the Orange Flag. A medieval and Renaissance town, it guards walls that are among the best preserved in the Marche region (14th-15th centuries), almost a kilometer of fortifications interspersed with gates, bastions, towers as well as a crenellated spur attributed to Francesco di Giorgio Martini. The historic center is characterized by narrow streets that on the west side expand to become wider and more regular. Some of these have the appearance of true monuments such as the Piaggia, which climbs to the top of the hill and along which is the famous Pozzo della Polenta. Interesting is the Carlo Goldoni Theater, originally equipped with an ingenious device capable of raising or lowering the stalls as needed. Corinaldo is the birthplace of Santa Maria Goretti and it is possible to visit her house and the diocesan shrine dedicated to her. Vineyards and olive groves in the undulating surrounding countryside produce Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and extra-virgin olive oil, made mainly from the Moraiolo, Leccino, Frantoio and Raggia cultivars.
