Montelupone is a village certified by the Italian Touring Club with the Orange Flag.
An enchanting town in which history, art and tradition blend harmoniously in a natural landscape nestled among the rolling hills that fade toward the sea, it is an ideal place for lovers of “en plein air” tourism thanks to equipped green areas and paths for walking in nature. The historic center is set on the top of a rounded hill and still preserves intact the ancient city walls, which enclose within them fascinating areas of historical, cultural and tourist interest. Numerous renowned monuments are gathered in the main streets and squares: the Palazzo del Podestà, which houses the civic art gallery; the Historic Theater “Nicola Degli Angeli,” dating back to the 19th century; the Monumental Church of St. Francis; the Historical Photographic Museum; the Museum of Arts and Crafts; and the Romanesque Abbey of San Firmano, dating back to 1200. Typical local products include the Montelupone artichoke, star of the mid-May festival of the same name and which has become a Slow Food Presidium, and certified honey, promoted during the “Apimarche” trade fair in late August.
