The amphitheater of Mediolanum, at 155 meters long and 125 meters wide, was one of the largest such buildings of its time. Built between the 2nd and 3rd centuries, it was destroyed in 539 during an attack by the Goths. Today in the atmospheric and silent archaeological park, a few sections of the foundations of the radial walls are visible, but in the Antiquarium, named after the Milanese archaeologist Alda Levi who made the first excavations here (in 1936), two rooms illustrate the situation of the neighborhood in which it stood and the dynamics of the spectacles, from gladiator fights to hunting contests.
