Address: Capralba, (CR)
The Fontanili di Capralba Park is located in the northern part of the Cremasque plain and is characterized by fontanili dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries; these are artificial works that harness natural resurgences for the purpose of draining the waters that emerge naturally and flooding vast areas of plain, thus reclaiming the land and making it suitable for cultivation. The fontanili constitute naturalistic islands of considerable interest because of the clarity of the waters, which causes vegetation to grow luxuriantly and encourages the creation of quiet refuges where some of the many animals that find shelter there can be glimpsed.
The Quarantina Fountain is surrounded by a beautiful grove where it is possible to spread out a mat and bask in the shade of the plants while reading a good book or having a picnic. The real beauty, however, is the discovery, among the vegetation, of this little pool with a gravelly bottom and cool, crystal-clear water gushing copiously from the resurgent springs: the depth varies from a few tens of centimeters to a meter, but the conformation is sufficient to allow you to refresh and regenerate your body and mind and forget the surrounding humid and sultry hell.
In addition to the one mentioned, the Capralba area offers other fountains to seek out and discover, hidden, refreshing and meditative places little known and frequented by local tourism.
