Mercatello sul Metauro is a village certified by the Italian Touring Club with the Orange Flag. The village has maintained in the historic core part of its medieval appearance, characterized by a walled enclosure protected by the furrow of the two waterways, the Metauro and the S. Antonio stream. Worth visiting, in the central Piazza Garibaldi, is the collegiate church, which preserves the wall mass of the Romanesque building, with beautiful Gothic windows and an ancient Byzantine icon depicting Our Lady of Grace in a precious gilded and painted wooden case. The Collegiate Museum houses an extensive collection of sacred furnishings. The Church of St. Francis, an authentic jewel of Romanesque-Gothic style, holds remarkable works of art. Besides tagliatella, another typical product is The prized black summer truffle or scorzone.
