Touring volunteer members welcome you on the first and third Saturdays of the month at 2 and 3 p.m.
The complex, built by the community of Regola di Lizzana and purchased by the Betta family in 1728, presents, on the main floor, the refinement characteristic of eighteenth-century patrician dwellings in Rovereto with pictorial cycles testifying to the love for art and the high cultural level of the patrons. Palazzo Betta-Grillo (purchased by the Grillo family in 1899) houses an important painting cycle by Gasparantonio Baroni Cavalcabò (18th century), consisting of seven large canvases depicting episodes from the life of Moses. The main floor hall is of great interest, surmounted by an elliptical dome with lacunars, painted on the ceiling with an illusionistic effect and two diaphragms made of pink marble columns dividing the room. On the walls, a pictorial cycle by Giovanni di Dio Galvagni depicts scenes from Orlando Furioso.
The historical garden preserves intact its late 19th century layout and offers a large sample of the ornamental botanical species common at the time. Now owned by the municipality, the complex was also the birthplace of Lionello Fiumi (1894-1973), a poet, critic, essayist and storyteller of international renown.
