The Scoletta del Carmine in Padua is a place open thanks to the volunteer members of the Italian Touring Club. In the complex that was once the Carmelite convent is the Scoletta, a single-nave hall built in the 14th century and entirely frescoed in the 16th century. It depicts stories of Joachim and Mary, scenes from the life of Jesus and the Assumption of the Virgin. The painters are exponents of the Paduan artistic scene (Girolamo del Santo, Domenico and Giulio Campagnola, Stefano dall’Arzere) who convey a lively expressiveness.
