Villa Valmarana ai Nani in Vicenza is a complex formed by the Palazzina (1669), the Foresteria and the Scuderia (1720), enclosed in a historic park. It takes its name from the statues of the 17 dwarfs on the surrounding wall, probably based on designs by Giandomenico Tiepolo.
The Villa houses the world’s most beautiful frescoes by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo where, from the epic narratives of his father Giambattista in the Palazzina (The Sacrifice of Iphigenia, The Orlando Furioso, The Aeneid), we move on to his son Giandomenico’s tales of life in the 18th century in the Foresteria (The Chinoiseries, The Peasants, The Carnival of Venice). It is universally considered the expressive apex of 18th century painting and the highest testimony to the Tiepolo genius.
Stays The villa offers extraordinary types of hospitality: the Foresteria and the Achille and Ifigenia suites in the Palazzina. For those who have dreamed of sleeping under Tiepolo’s frescoes, the Chinoiserie room with its suite has recently been opened.
Visits The entrance ticket includes a visit to the frescoes by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, the magnificent exteriors and gives access to all the services of the Villa.
